Big beautiful trees, fire pits, picnic tables with lamp holders, great for taking the scouts.
Even though I got attacked by a Mountain Lion (don't worry, Ruger won that encounter) this is still one of my all time favorite camp sites with groups. Right up the mountain a short ways is a great beginners cave to explore with some moderate challenges for those looking.
Beautiful get away spot
With an annual pass for the Catalina Mountains, Peppersauce is our regular go to place. A hidden valley of sycamore (and walnut trees(?)) this campground had tons of shade and offered a nice break from the desert landscape surrounding.
Place filled up with what seemed like hordes of boy scouts or church groups at around 8 PM. Not a place to go for that "get away" experience. Very noisy!!!. One group of people opened their hatchback to blair their music as they set up their camp and the music never stopped. Really? Huey Lewis and the News??!! At least play good music as you drink your boxo wine.
At $10 a night, it was well priced. Occasionally there is water that flows through the creek, but for the most part is dry but cool. About 45 minutes out of Tucson I suggest for most go through Oracle, for the more adventurous you can explore Reddington Pass (4 wheels only).
